Bryant and May ; We Are London

Recently watched the Madness
concert at the Hackney Empire
'The Liberty of Norton Folgate'
[ courtesy of iplayer]

An extraordinary mix of Victorian
music hall and modern music. One song in particular 'We Are London'
put me in mind of Bryant and May
who certainly are London.

Pineapple, Kentish Town

London Calling, yes, I was there too

And you know what, some of it was true!
London Calling and we ain't got no high

Except for that one with the yellowy eyes
London Calling to the zombies of death

Quit holding out and draw another breath
London Calling to the imitation zone

Forget it brother, you can go it alone
Engines stop running, but I have no fear

'Cause London is drowning and I, live by the river
The ice age is coming, the sun's
zooming in

Meltdown's expected, the wheat's
growing thin
London Calling we ain't got no swing

'cept for the ring of that truncheon thing
Come out of the cupboard you boys and girls
Now war is declared-the battle come down
